Spas, gyms, wellness centers and thermal facilities distribute towels, robes and other textile items to members and visitors every day. These items are premium assets, often branded and expensive to replace. And they leave the facility at a significant and measurable rate.
Unlike hotel linen, which moves through a managed cycle of rooms, housekeeping and laundry, spa and wellness textiles operate in a day-use model: issued at arrival, expected back at departure. The problem this creates is specific and well known. Some guests forget to return items. Others do not. In high-throughput facilities, losses accumulate quickly and are typically discovered too late to act on.
RFID addresses this at the point where it matters most: the exit. Each towel or robe carries a small, imperceptible RFID tag. When a guest leaves, an RFID reading point at the exit or reception area detects any tagged item that has not been checked back in. Staff can prompt a return before the person walks out, or a charge can be applied at check-out if items are not handed back. The intervention happens in real time, not during the next inventory count.
Beyond exit control, RFID also provides accurate inventory data throughout the day: how many items have been issued, how many are currently in circulation and how many are available. This reduces stock shortfalls during peak hours and removes the need for manual counting between shifts.
