Use Cases

Frequently Asked Questions

When there are multiple RFID reading stations installed across different locations, there will be many challenges related to data loss, downtime, configuration, remote support, etc.

With Storm you would be able to:

  • Monitor reader downtime & get notified (via email, dashboard notifications) thanks to alarms feature
  • Configure reader related settings remotely via Storm
  • Perform over the air (OTA) update of reader firmware & Cloudburst
  • View performance & productivity related metrics on the dashboard
  • Monitor reader logs for errors & information
  • Assign role based access to users
  • Group devices by location/site and enforce location/site specific user access

Storm does not store any EPC data.

Storm platform stores data related to device status and telemetry related information. We rely on a computed reading counter sent by the reader without storing the actual read EPCs.

Storm is a SaaS (Software as a Service) platform built on scalable micro-services based architecture, ensuring high availability, flexibility and performance.

Some other components we use in the Storm platform are database such as PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, Portainer for orchestration, MQTT protocol for communication, and so on.

Storm uses various security protocols & industry standard encryption like, HTTPS, SSL, TLS, certificate based authentications for micro-service communication, etc.

Storm will also provide users facility to use Two Factor Authentication (2FA) to ensure authorized access to the platform (Coming Soon). In case you want to directly manage platform access and authenticate users via supported OpenID connect standards like Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Google, etc. Storm platform will support it at additional cost (Coming Soon).
